Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a chronic condition characterized by fatigue and extreme muscle pain. Its primary symptom is severe ache and muscle pain that makes any type of physical activity very painful. More than 5 million Americans suffer from of FMS in the USA, but the number of cases may be higher because the condition is difficult to diagnose. Approximately 80 to 90 percent of FMS sufferers are women.

Possible Causes of Fibromyalgia Syndrome
Fibromyalgia develops over a long period of time with symptoms that vary widely from person to person. The wide range of symptoms make FMS difficult to diagnose. FMS is more common in females than males. The specific cause of the condition is not known; however, it appears that a number of different factors may contribute to the development of the disorder. Some research indicates that children who have grown up in an environment of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and alcoholism may be more susceptible to the condition.

Possible Symptoms of Fibromyalgia Syndrome
The symptoms of FMS include severe muscle pain, fatigue, chest pain, low-grade fever, swollen lymph nodes, insomnia, insomnia, frequent abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome and depression.
Fibromyalgia is differentiated from other conditions by the existence of 18 tender spots where the muscles are abnormally tender to any touch. These 18 points are located
around:
the lower vertebra of the neck
the insertion of the second rib
the upper part of the thigh
the middle of the knee joint
the neck, mid back, and upper back muscles
the muscles connected to the back base of the skull

Possible Lifestyle Changes for Fibromyalgia Syndrome
Low-intensity exercise may improve FMS symptoms. Patients who exercise regularly report fewer symptoms than those who do not exercise. Reduce stress and drink plenty
of water. Reduce or eliminate consumption of caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, meat, saturated fats, dairy products and any form of sugar, including corn syrup, fructose and honey. Eat a diet high in raw vegetables, fruits, grains and fish.
