EXPLAINING MAGNETIC POLARITY
Every magnet has a north and a south pole. In bio-magnetic terms the side of the magnet attracted to the earth’s South Pole is designated as the North Pole of the magnet, or northern magnetic polarity. The side of the magnet attracted to the earth’s North Pole is the South Pole of the magnet, or southern magnetic polarity.
The more effective and properly oriented magnets in magnetic products are either North Pole or Bi-Polar. When a magnetic product is called North Pole it means that all the magnets in the product are placed so that the North Pole contacts the surface of the body. When a magnetic product is called Bipolar it means that the magnets are arranged so that both North and South Poles contact the body.
The type of magnetic polarities are said to have the following different theraputic effect:
North Magnetic Polarity: Calming, relaxing effect
South Magnetic Polarity: Stimulating, activating effect
Non-oriented (Bi-Polar): Mixed effect
The North, South, or Bi-Polar orientation of magnets toward the body in magnetic therapy will thus have those impacts on the body.
North Polarity (-) is the most common near surface directional recommendation for the use of magnets for magnetic therapy, as this orientation is considered the most soothing to the body for pain relief. Accordingly, the body absorbs the magnetic energy it needs which is given off by the magnets delivering magnetic energy to the body. This magnetic energy is what puts the body in balance, to allow the body to heal itself naturally, supporting circulation, while helping to reduce pain symptoms associated with the condition.
There are some magnets that are natural rough stones in odd shapes shaped into balls, like Hematite, which have polarity but due to their shapes are not oriented in jewelry, and thus they are Bi-Polar which means they are not generally specifically oriented in any particular direction when applied against the body as would be manufactured and shaped metal or ceramic magnets. This is not considered bad or incorrect, but it is different, as it is thought that a Bi-Polar or mixed polar orientation will not be as immediately soothing to pain due to the additional immediate stimulation, but it will have the same long term healing impact serving the magnetic needs of the body as the body takes what it needs to become in magnetic balance. With these type of Bi-Polar orientations, this variation in results is due to the influence of the South Polarities intermittent placement against the body which may have a more dramatic impact on circulation to the area which is considered stimulating to the area. As noted, in the end this orientation creates the same long term affect for pain relief.
When using metal or ceramic magnets that are manufactured and magnetized, North Polarity is the consensus magnetic orientation toward the body for necklaces, rings, pads, etc. for the most direct overall and long term impact focusing on soothing.
